Frequently asked questions
My alarm didn’t ring. What should I check?
First open iOS Settings › Apps › Sunbolt and make sure Alarms is turned on; while it is off, Sunbolt alarms cannot ring. In Sunbolt, if the Alarm permission row in Settings doesn’t say “Allowed”, tap Allow alarms. Then check in the Alarms tab that the alarm is on and set for the right days, and run a Night test. If it still happens, email us your device model, iOS version and the alarm’s time.
How can I check that my alarm will really ring?
Tap Settings › Night test: it sets a test alarm that rings once in 1 minute. Lock your phone and turn on Silent; Sunbolt alarms ring in Silent mode and Focus too.
How do I turn the alarm off?
By finishing the alarm’s mission: Steps, Math, Barcode / QR, My Object or Mini Puzzle. If a mission goes wrong three times, it switches to an easy Math mission; if the camera or step counting isn’t available, you can tap Switch to a Math mission.
I can’t finish the mission. What do I do?
Hold the Emergency dismiss button on the mission screen for 10 seconds. The alarm turns off without the mission, but your streak breaks; nobody is ever locked in.
How do I stop every alarm at once?
Tap Settings › Remove all alarms and confirm. Every Sunbolt alarm is cancelled in iOS and turned off in Sunbolt. Your alarm list stays, so you can turn them back on.
How do I save a barcode or an object?
In the Missions tab, tap Add. For a barcode, scan the code on something you keep in another room, like the coffee jar or the toothpaste; only that code will stop the alarm. For My Object, take 3 photos from slightly different angles, where the object usually is. Then edit the alarm and pick the code or object.
What’s free, and what does Sunbolt Pro add?
The free version has unlimited alarms, the Steps, Math and Barcode/QR missions, your streak and the Good morning card, with no time limit. Sunbolt Pro adds the My Object and Mini Puzzle missions, chains of up to 3 missions, the difficulty setting, a backup alarm 5 minutes later and weekly Mornings stats. It is $9.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $19.99 once for lifetime access with Family Sharing (US prices; the App Store shows yours).
How do I restore my purchase?
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account, then tap Settings › Sunbolt Pro › Restore purchases. A lifetime purchase also unlocks Pro on your family’s devices through Family Sharing.
How do I cancel the free trial or my subscription?
In Sunbolt, tap Settings › Manage subscription, or open iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you allowed notifications, we remind you 24 hours before it ends. Apple handles refunds; see the Terms of Use.
What happens to my alarms if I delete Sunbolt?
Deleting the App deletes all your Sunbolt data (alarms, mornings, codes and objects). We are still verifying what happens to the alarms Sunbolt has scheduled with iOS once the App is deleted, and have not confirmed it yet. Until we have, we suggest tapping Settings › Remove all alarms before you delete Sunbolt.
How do I add the widget?
On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area, tap Edit › Add Widget, search for Sunbolt and add the Next alarm widget. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, then Lock Screen, and pick Sunbolt in the widget area. The widget shows your next alarm and your streak, and updates when you change your alarms.
Can I use Sunbolt with Siri?
Yes. Say “Set a Sunbolt alarm”, “Set an alarm in Sunbolt” or “Wake me up with Sunbolt”; Siri asks for the time and Sunbolt sets a one-time alarm with a Math mission. “Turn off tomorrow’s Sunbolt alarm” or “Turn off my next Sunbolt alarm” turns off the alarm that would ring next; a repeating alarm stays off until you turn it back on. Siri won’t turn an alarm off while it is ringing or its mission is open, so Siri is never a way around the mission. The same actions are in the Shortcuts app.
How do I turn on dark mode?
In Settings › Appearance, choose System, Light or Dark. System follows your iPhone’s own appearance setting.
Do you collect my data?
No. There is no account and no server, and the App makes no network requests. Your alarms, mornings, codes and objects stay on your iPhone. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”; see the Privacy Policy.
How do I contact you?
