The agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Busra Hekimoglu, the developer of Podlog (“we”, “us”). They apply to the Podlog mobile app and Podlog’s web pages (together, “Podlog”).
Continuing from the sign-in screen, whether you sign up or sign in with email, Apple or Google, means you accept these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. We record which version of the Terms you accepted and when. When we change the Terms, existing users are asked to accept the updated version in the app before they continue.
Who can use Podlog
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which you can consent to online services in your country if it is higher (for example 16 in some EU countries). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms. You can’t use Podlog if we have previously removed your account for breaking these Terms.
Your account
You can sign in with email and password, with Sign in with Apple (on iPhone) or with Google. Give accurate information, keep your password safe and tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Your username (3–24 lowercase letters, numbers or underscores) can’t be changed once chosen. It must not impersonate anyone, mislead people about who you are or infringe anyone’s rights; we may remove a username that does.
What Podlog is, and isn’t
Podlog is a diary, review and social layer for podcasts. It doesn’t host, stream or play audio, and it doesn’t provide listening links.
Podcast information such as titles, descriptions and artwork comes from the open Podcast Index directory and is provided as is; it may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Podlog has no affiliation with the podcasts, their creators or publishers, or Podcast Index, and isn’t sponsored or endorsed by them. Podcast names, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are shown only to identify what you log.
What others can see
Podlog is social. Once you’ve chosen a username, your profile, diary entries, ratings, likes, reviews, Top 4 and public lists can be seen by anyone, including people who aren’t signed in. Lists are public unless you make them private. Your follower and following counts are public, but who follows whom is visible only to the two people involved. Your Listen later queue and private lists are visible only to you. Think before you post.
Your content
You own the reviews, lists, profile text and other content you create in Podlog (“your content”). So that we can run Podlog, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, format for different screens), display and distribute your content within Podlog and on Podlog’s web pages. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in short-lived backups. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.
Community rules
Podlog works when people can talk about what they hear without fear. Don’t post anything, or use Podlog in any way, that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
- attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics (hate speech);
- is spam, including repetitive posts, fake engagement, advertising or scams;
- involves sexual content of any kind involving minors, which we remove and report to the authorities where required;
- is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes someone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- shares someone’s private information without permission, such as their home address, phone number or documents (doxxing);
- impersonates another person or organisation.
Spoilers must be flagged: if a review gives away important plot points, twists or endings, turn on “Contains spoilers” before you save it.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. An automatic filter rejects some objectionable words in profiles, reviews and lists. You can report reviews and profiles and block accounts in the app. Reports are reviewed manually, and we act on them as quickly as possible, normally within 24 hours. Blocking hides each other’s profiles, logs and reviews and removes any follows between you.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules or the law, or that put Podlog or its users at risk. If you think we made a mistake, email us.
Podlog Free and Podlog Pro
Podlog is free to use. The free plan includes logging, ratings, reviews, Top 4, follows, Listen later and up to three lists. Podlog Pro is an optional subscription that adds unlimited lists and advanced listening stats. If we materially reduce what Pro includes, we’ll tell you in advance so you can cancel before your next renewal.
Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
- Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, bought through the App Store and managed through RevenueCat. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, its length is shown before you start it, and it turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies; we can’t issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
- Deleting your Podlog account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the App Store first.
None of this limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
Using the service fairly
Don’t misuse Podlog. For example, don’t access it with bots, scrapers or other automated means; interfere with or overload the service, or get around its limits or security; probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission (if you find a security issue, please tell us); reverse engineer the app except where the law allows; copy Podlog content to build a competing service; or use someone else’s account.
Our rights
Podlog’s app, web pages, design, name and logo belong to us and are protected by law. These Terms don’t give you any right to use them other than using Podlog as intended. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Third-party services
Podlog relies on services run by others, including Apple, Google, Supabase, RevenueCat and Podcast Index. Signing in with Apple or Google and buying through the App Store are also subject to those companies’ terms. We aren’t responsible for third-party services, content or websites.
App Store
If you got Podlog from Apple’s App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple isn’t responsible for Podlog or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it; if Podlog fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price (if any), and Apple has no other warranty obligation; Apple isn’t responsible for any claims relating to Podlog, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims; you confirm that you aren’t located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and aren’t on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Ending your use of Podlog
You can stop using Podlog at any time and delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Podlog, in which case we’ll give reasonable notice where we can. Sections that by their nature should continue to apply after that, such as disclaimers, liability and governing law, will.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Podlog running and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that Podlog will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, or that podcast information from third parties is accurate. Reviews and ratings are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Podlog. Our total liability for any claim relating to Podlog is limited to the amount you paid for Podlog Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that can’t be limited by law, and nothing affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms. However, if you use Podlog as a consumer, under Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 you may apply to the consumer arbitration committees for disputes within the monetary limits set each year, or to the consumer courts for disputes above those limits, in the place where you live or where the transaction took place.
If you live in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence. Before going to court, please contact us first; most issues can be solved quickly.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Podlog evolves. We’ll publish the new version here with a new effective date and version, and existing users are asked to accept the updated version in the app. If you don’t accept it, you can stop using Podlog and delete your account.
