How do I scan pages?
In the Library, tap + to add a book, open it and tap Scan. Under Scan with camera, choose One page per photo or Two-page spread and hold your iPhone over the page; the edges are found and the page is captured on its own. Tap Save when you’re done.
What does Two-page spread do?
If you shoot the open book in one photo, Flatleaf splits the image down the middle and adds the left and right pages as separate pages. The gutter in the middle of the book is trimmed.
Can I add photos I already took?
Yes. Under Scan, choose Import from Photos; each photo can be added as one page or as a two-page spread.
Where is the text?
Tap a page and switch to Text at the top. Text recognition runs in the background after scanning, and the text is ready as soon as “Recognizing text” disappears from the book screen. Use Copy text or the share button.
The text is wrong or missing.
Scan the page again in good light and hold it flat, or tap Recognize again in the Text view. In Settings › Text recognition › Language you can choose Automatic, English or Turkish; the new language applies to new scans and to pages you recognize again.
My pages are in the wrong order.
On the book screen, tap ⋯ › Reorder pages; drag pages into place, or tap Reverse order if you scanned the book from back to front, then tap Save.
How do I make a PDF?
On the book screen, tap the share button (Export), choose the format, pages and quality, tap Create file, then Share or save. Image PDFs are free and carry no watermark; searchable PDF, text and Markdown are part of Flatleaf Pro.
How do I make a quote card?
In a page’s Text view, select a sentence and choose Make quote card from the menu. Choose a theme and the page number, then Share card or Save. Saved quotes appear on the book’s Quotes tab. Quotes are up to 500 characters.
How do I search my library?
Type in the search field in the Library. Book titles and quotes are searched for everyone; searching inside the text of every page is part of Flatleaf Pro. Search ignores case and accents, so “cafe” also finds “café”.
Where are my scans stored?
Only on your device. Flatleaf has no servers, and there is no iCloud sync in this version; see the Privacy Policy. If your device backup is on, your scans may be part of it. We suggest exporting important books as PDFs and saving them to Files.
What does Flatleaf Pro include?
Search inside every page, searchable PDFs, text and Markdown export, and 3 more quote card themes. Tap See Flatleaf Pro in Settings. Use Restore purchases to get your purchase back, and cancel a subscription with Manage subscription or in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone. See the Terms of Use for details.
Can I change the appearance?
Yes. In Settings › Appearance, choose System, Light or Dark.
